Sycamore City is Judy Branfman’s artistic and consulting practice, where art-making, story-telling, community-building, social justice, and organizing come together.  A native Angelino, Judy has a broad background in the arts, education, research and writing, and community outreach and organizing. She turned to filmmaking to investigate a hidden family story – and discovered the history of free speech in the process. For over thirty-five years Judy has worked with non-profits, unions, and municipalities on labor, immigrant-rights, gender, clean money, and community development issues. She has taught Los Angeles history courses at UCLA – and produced large community-based events focusing on LA’s multi-ethnic, labor history.
